Common Diseases in Broiler
The life cycle of the broiler bird is very small. Normally the marketable age broiler is 30 days. But some countries have been permitted for 45 days. this type of disease affects broiler birds. the most common diseases of broiler are
- Omphalitis
- Coccidiosis
- Gout
- Mycoplasmosis
- Salmonellosis
- Newcast;e Disease
- Infectious Bursal Disease
- Inclusion Body Hepatitis (IBH)
Salmonellosis
Salmonellosis is the foremost disease in broiler birds. It is intracellular & gram-negative bacteria. It is impossible to eliminate from the flock due to its intracellular nature.
There are two types of diseases found in the broiler. Pullorum disease & fowl typhoid the most common in the broiler. Source of infection involving by contaminating eggs, water, and infected birds.
Pullorum disease
It is caused by Salmonella pullorum and the most devastating disease for broiler chicks.

Primary clinical signs involved pesty vent with yolk color feces as well as whitish, dullness at standing position.
Postmortem finding
Predominated gross findings are yolk mass found in the abdominal cavity and the liver became small with yolk color.
Fowl typhoid
It is caused by Salmonella gallinerum and the most devastating disease for broiler chicks
General clinical signs are chicks quietly underweight, hurdling, prostration, dullness, feed dejection, etc.
Postmortem findings

The yolk sac turns larger than normal. The liver became enlarge, congested, and in severe cases, it turns a greenish color.
Treatment
Sulphanomide, tetracycline, broad-spectrum penicillin are totally resistant to Salmanelllosis. Aminoglycosides as gentamicin, amikacin, Neomycin, are effective in salmonellosis in the broiler.

Chronic Respiratory Disease (CRD)
It is the most common disease in the broiler. It is caused by Mycoplasma gallisepticum which is gram-negative bacteria. Having a distinct cell wall, very few antibiotic responses suppress the Mycoplasma gallisepticum.
CRD is seen in every weather condition but it is turned to severe in the winter season. colder climate stimulates to inside CRD in the broiler.
There are two types of clinical signs are observed in the broiler,
Clinical Signs
Primarily, hacking cough listens without interruption feeding & watering. Mycoplasma gallisepticum is only responsible for these clinical signs. There is no mortality that occurred
Secondly, hacking cough with a reduction of feed & water, that might be Mycoplasma complicated with other gram-positive & gram-negative organisms.
This types of infection called Complicated chronic Respiratory disease (CCRD)Mortality reach to 50% in complicated with bacteria, virus & fungal infection
Postmortem findings
When Mycoplasma gallisepticum is responsible for hacking cough, air sac mildly dilated and drop bubble in the air sac.

Besides, the air sac became congested, thickened, fibripurulant, yellowish plaque is seen in Complicated Chronic Respiratory infection.
Treatment
If the feeding & watering are normal, Just apply antimycoplasmal drugs like Tilmycosin, Erythromycin, Tylosin at recommended dosages with a gram-negative spectrum like florfenicol, neomycin sulfate, colistin sulfate at the oral route.
On the other hand, if the starting mortality rate increased mentioned drugs applied in both routes successfully control the infection in the broiler. if the decrease intake feed consumption, birds suffering from intestinal and caecal coccidiosis.

Tiamulin hydrogen fumarate is also effective at CRD in the broiler. But, It is risky due to some coccidiostat using in broiler feed that causes an adverse toxic reaction. This causes severe paralysis and sometimes leading to mortality.
That is why, if it needs to use tiamulin in the broiler, please confirm which types of coccidiostat in the broiler feed.
