Gout In Poultry | Etilogy & Causal Agents | Part 01

Avian Gout

Avian Gout is a metabolic disease of poultry. Almost all dominated species affected by this disease. The most common species are broiler, laying hen, duck, turkey, etc. The broiler is the most susceptible to avian gout compared to other species. Avian gout has nuber of etiology & casual agent which cause gout in poultry.

Susceptible age

Avian gout is affected by all ages of poultry. From day-old chicks to older birds. Some scientist believes that some species resistant to avian gout but the mechanism of resistant still unknown to all.

Cause Agents

There are two types of causal agent are responsible for this disease. Enlistedcausal agents are more devastating in some cases.

A. Infectious agent

Avian gout caused by some disease-producing agent which will be divided into the following way-

1. Bacteria

Some gram-negative bacteria are responsible for causing gout disease in poultry. Salmonella pullorum & gallinerum the most common types which causing gout in chick at an earlier age. The disease lesion associated with other’s clinical and postmortem findings.

2. Escherichia coli

It is another type of gram-negative bacterial infection producing clinical signs like nephritis in the kidney at an early age of chicks.

3.Streptococcus infection

Like other gram-negative bacteria a streptococcal infection causing gout lesion with complicated other organisms in the poultry.

Single infection of streptococcal species rare but conjunction infection associated there bacteria and fungus.

B. Virus

Some pathogenic viral species produce gout lesions in poultry. But, some viruses individually responsible for the avian Gout.

A. Avian Nephritis virus

It is a specific virus for inducing nephritis in poultry. Route of transformation unknown in fact. Mortality range to 80% caused by the Avian nephritis virus.

Infectious bronchitis (IB)

It is the most well known respiratory virus causing bronchitis in poultry. But, it has a common in chicks all types of birds causing neurogenic IB.

he most common diagnostics lesion found in the kidney with excess depositions of urate in chicks. In neurogenic IB, 100% mortality occurred reporting in the field.

Infectious bursal disease

It is another viral disease of poultry caused by the infectious bursal disease virus under the family of Bunyaviridae. Whitish faces are the common external clinical signs due to the deposition of urate in the kidney of poultry.

Newcastle disease

Newcastle disease is the second economically important disease in the poultry. It infects all types of the organ but kidney, not an exception. Violet water deprivation during the NDV outbreak leading to gout syndrome in poultry.
