DICLAZURIL IN POULTRY
Diclazuril s in the triazine class of antiprotozoals drugs that target the Plasmid body and organelle present members of the phylum Apicomplexa, but the actual mechanism of action is not clearly described (Plumb, 2011b). It acts on coccidiosis in poultry which is a most protozoan disease of poultry characterized by enteritis and bloody diarrhea.

It is FDA approved in the United States as a coccidiostat in broiler chickens and growing turkeys and as an antiprotozoal in horses to treat equine protozoal myeloencephalitis (EPM).
Indications
Diclazuril is a modern effective anticoccidial that is used for the treatment and control of coccidiosis.
In poultry, 0.2% diclazuril medication Indications labeled for the prevention of coccidiosis in chickens caused by Eimeria tenella, E. necatrix, E. acervulina, E. Brunetti, E. mitis (mivati), and E. maxima.
Despite acts on all Emeria species, it is also active in the Isospora app, Toxoplasma Gondi.
It is also labeled for use in turkeys to prevent coccidiosis caused by imperia adenoids, E. gallopavonis, and E. meleagrimitis. Do not use in breeding turkeys.

Mode of action
Diclazuril acts late in the life cycle of E. App which is contained seven spp of Emeria, subclinical intestinal lesions may be present for a short time after infection. but diclazuril use results in reduced lesion scores and improved health and performance in birds challenged with E. maxima and others Emeria spp.

Safety and efficacy
Diclazuril has a greater safer level in the field. From day one up to the marketable age, there is no adverse effect shows in poultry. That’s why it is considered a safe anti-social drug for poultry. There is no weight loss, reduce growth and increase FCR in the field.
Efficacy has to depend on types of lesion scoring. In severe intestinal coccidiosis, diclazuril acts as a greater potent compared to Totrazurilzzuril salt.

Can use both Diclazuril and Toltrazuril salt?
Both Diclazuril and Toltrazuril use in the same medicated water. Both medicines show synergism action during coccidiosis outbreaks. Dose and administration
Diclazuril 2.5% solution provides a 1ml solution per 1 litre water for 3- 5 days.
Diclazuril solution should be used daily with drinking water. At first, the required dose should be mixed with a little quantity of water which is then mixed with a total quantity of water for easy dissolution.

Diclazuril in feed
The General recommended dosage at poultry feed formulation due to fattening purpose and prevention of coccidia is .8-.1.2 mg/kg. It is continuing up to 12 weeks. There is no adverse effects and residue found on egg and meat in Poultry.
Available formulation
It is used as feed grade coccidiostat in the poultry industry. But, in some instance, oral formulations are also available in the market. Feed grade approval of Diclazuril mentioned above and oral form has been starting from 2.5-10.

Diclazuril vs Pronazuril
- Pronazuril is narrow spectrum antiprotozoal drugs against coccidiosis in poultry compared to diclazuril.
- Pronazuril shows effectivity after two days of the adminstration, but diclazuril starts his effect as soon as application.
- Diclazuril is not efftective on equine protozoal myeloencephalitis (EPM), but pronazuril shows specific effect.
