Omphalitis

It is the most common disease at an early age, especially in chicks. Omphalitis is are also are known as navel infection, yolk sac infection, and many chicks disease.

Some veterinarians assumed that omphalitis is a hatchery-born disease. It is coming from hatchery due to a faulty incubation period or provides insufficient temperature after incubation.

It is a multifactorial disease in chicks due to more number infectious organisms are involved in omphalitis.

Clinical Signs

The primary clinical signs are chicks unable to stand up, prostration, off feed, dullness, pesty vent with yellowish or whitish feces.

Postmortem findings

Postmortem findings involved a large mass of egg yolk that can easily see in the abdomen. The liver became smaller with a yellowish color.

Treatment

Treatment involving temperature control associated with humidity inside the shed. The application of antibiotics depends on the types of infection implicated. Generally, all kinds of gram-negative bacteria but some Gram-positive bacteria responsible for the complications.

Therefore, the antibiotics act both types of bacteria are usually effective in this case. For instance, cephalexin @10mg/kg, florfenicol @20mg/kg, Neomycin sulfate 10mg/kg, Amikacin sulfate @10 mg/kg body weight significantly root out the infection

Escherichia coli infection

Escherichia coli infection also known as colibacillosis, coliseticemia, lichi heart disease, etc. It is gram-negative consulting, and the most present everywhere.

Clinical signs

Primary clinical signs are respiratory difficulty this aisacculitis, off feed, fluffiness, etc.

Avian Gout

It is called a metabolic disease of the broiler. It is commonly seen in the early winter season. Normally, avian gout mainly known as gout encounters at the early age of broiler birds.

In the field, Gout usually starts after one week & continues up to 21-22 days in the broiler. Mortality varies types of gout in the internal organ of broiler birds.

Causes

The exact etiology & pathogenesis is unknown. But some veterinary researchers believe that there are two types of amino acids responsible for this disease.

The first one is, pyrimidine & the second one is the plain base. because the end product which caused gout in broiler called uric acid are originated from two types of amino acid.

Treatment

Treatment of gout in broiler depends on identifying amino acids in the field. It is very easy to diagnose the types of amino acids. if the treatment response to allopurinol, the underlying source of uric acid from purine, while it is rather than pyrimidine origin.

In the case of pyrimidine origin, febuxostat works well compared to other drugs. therefore, the source of uric acid acts as a dominant role in curing the disease. for purine origin allopurinol and for the pyrimidine origin febuxostat.
