Fungal Diseases

The fungal diseases are causing by the organism named fungus. A fungus is a eukaryotic organism that includes Yeast and mold. Fungal diseases are less important for poultry. Few of the fungal species are causing disease in poultry.

The common fungal disease list in Poultry

Fungal diseases for Poultry which are commonly found are

  • Aspergillus fumigatus called brooder pneumonea,
  • Fevus (White comb)
  • candidiasis (thrush)
  • Mycotic dermatitis
  • Histoplasmosis
  • Torulopsis infection
  • Cryptococcosis
  • Mucormycosis

ASPERGILLOSIS IN POULTRY

One or two species are overwhelming for poultry due to higher mortality in some cases. Aspergillus fumigates is the one them which affect the respiratory system in chicks causing 100% mortality in some instances.

FAVUS ( White comb)

Favus is an economically less important fungal disease that occurs sporadically. It is caused by the trichophyton megninii. Occasionally Microsporum and trichophyton species produce similar diseases.

CANDIDIASIS (Thrush)

this disease is also not important. It is affected poultry and human being sporadical. It is caused by the fungus Candida Albicans. It is a form like a colony on saborouds agar. Monilia Albicans produce a similar lesions in poultry.
