Low pathogenic Avian Influenza(LPAI)
Its most common disease in poultry specially in winter season.
Low Patthogenic Avian Influenza (LPAI) just only one of many subtypes in poultry. Avian influenza refers to the disease caused by infection with avian (bird) influenza (flu) Type A viruses in poultry. its also known Bird Flu.
There are four types of influenza virus A,B,C,D. All types are found in wild aquatic birds like gease, swans, tern etc
Subtypes of influenza A virus
It’s divided on the basis of two surface proteins haemagglutinin (HA) & neuraminidase ( NA)
There are known 18 HA & 11 NA subtypes are available.
There many combination both HA & NA protein possible like H5 N7 virus has H 5 protein & NA 7 protein.
All subtypes not circulating except the poultry like
In bats- H17N10 & H18N11
In Human- H1N1, H3N2
In horse-H7N7, H3N8
In horse &dogs-H3N8
So influenza virus designated by two forms on the basis of severity-
Highly pathogenic Avian Influenza H5 (HPAI)
Low pathogenic Avian Influenza virus H9 (LPAI)
Low pathogenic avian influenza
There nine subtypes of LPAI
All are identified in will birds & in poultry it’s known as LPAI
TYPES OF INFECTION
H9 Virus causes always mixed infection associated with others microganisms like e.coli, mycoplasma, salmonella, streptococcus, staphylococcus, pasteurella etc
